With ISFTA you're not just a certified personal trainer, you're a Fitness Professional.

Renew Your Certification

Your ISFTA certification is valid for a period of 2 years from the date of certification. Information on recertification is listed below.

Have you been previously certified through ISFTA and failed to renew at the 2 year period?

If your certification has expired less than one year ago and you would like to renew your ISFTA certification, you can still do it. All you have to do is submit proof of your continuing education hours for the duration of time which has lapsed, and pay the renewal fee. You will then be able to receive your updated certification.

ISFTA Fitness Professionals

In order to maintain your ISFTA Certified Personal Trainer or Advanced Personal Trainer certification, you must accumulate a total of 20 hours of continuing education. Of these 20 hours, 8 must be through ISFTA courses, seminars, or workshops. The remaining 12 hours can be from other sources, such as college coursework, courses approved by certain other organizations, or any course approved by any state board of physical therapy or the APTA. ISFTA Master Level Trainers

Once you have reached the level of ISFTA Master Level Trainer, you may accumulate the 20 hours of continuing education from any of the sources listed above, with no further requirement to take 8 hours of ISFTA courses. Medical Professionals

ISFTA respects your dedication to your education in the medical field. As almost all medical professions require continuing education to maintain your license, we will allow 16 hours of continuing education from your medical license to be applied toward your certification renewal. You will only have to complete one 4-credit hour ISFTA course every 2 years to maintain your certification. ISFTA is also an approved CEU provider for many medical State Boards.
